Introduction
Talking to so many people, it is interesting how many don’t know yet what is mixed reality. With the new (hopeful) release of the Vision Pro in Feb’24, many in the MR space have been talking about how Apple’s is trying to shift the use of terms over from AR/VR/AR/Metaverse to Immersive Technology. Mixed Reality was coined by Microsoft, Metaverse was coined by well meta, and Apple is trying to shift the idea of MR over to immersive tech.
In this post we dive and understand what exactly is MR and Immersive Tech? Is MR the same as AR? Is MR an extension of AR? Is MR and immersive tech even the same thing? Is the metaverse equivalent to Web3, or is it more equivalent to a VR world, or maybe even neither.
